Nancy Elliott - Immigration Lawyer (Toronto)

Nancy Elliott is an experienced lawyer and business professional with a strong record of leadership, strategic insight, and people-focused service. As a lawyer for over 25 years, Nancy Elliott has advised companies, startups and individual clients from all over the world on corporate and immigration issues in Canada and assisted Canadian companies to attract and retain talent.

Nancy established Elliott Law Professional Corporation to provide tailored, effective guidance to clients seeking representation in Canadian immigration law, including complex matters and Federal Court litigation. She has extensive knowledge and experience in the ever-changing regulatory and policy landscape, and her firm handles applications for temporary residence, including work permits (TFW, IMP), Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA), Global Talent Stream (GTS), study permits, temporary resident permits and visitor visas; applications for permanent residence in Canada, including Express Entry (EE), Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) in all provinces, Family Sponsorships, Humanitarian applications and complicated applications; employer compliance, enforcement, removals, immigration hearings and appeals, and Federal Court mandamus and applications for leave and for judicial review.

Nancy has also contributed at the board level, serving for more than a decade on the board of directors of Smart Employee Benefits (SEB), a publicly listed healthcare technology company, prior to its acquisition by Cooperators Insurance. During her tenure, she chaired the Governance, Human Resources, and Compensation Committee, playing a key role in corporate governance, compliance, oversight and policy development. She has also been an advisor and board member of several private companies in Canada.

Nancy also gained experience as an exempt market dealer, assisting junior companies listed on the TSX-V to raise early-stage financing. She has extensive experience in business operations, team leadership, strategic planning, and client relations.

Nancy values health and fitness and enjoys weightlifting, interval training and self defence training. She is certified to teach a range of self defence programs for adults, youth, and women, with a focus on real-world scenario training, emphasizing gross motor skills, awareness and confidence. Nancy’s team delivers workshops and multi-week empowered self-defence programs for companies, community organizations, schools, and other groups, teaching simple, effective techniques for responding to violence when de-escalation is not possible. Her approach is science-based and data-driven, grounded in evidence-supported mental and physical training methods.

Nancy holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies from the University of Toronto. She has studied Mandarin in Beijing and Taipei, has completed certification courses in exempt markets and corporate governance, and extensive krav maga and martial arts training.

Her strengths include strategic leadership, adaptability, complex problem-solving, empathy, and a non-judgemental approach. Her interests span technology, science, art, design, reading, nature, politics, health, and philosophy. Nancy is known for her ability to assess situations quickly, take decisive action, and engage effectively with people across a wide range of settings, combining professionalism with warmth and very good humour.
